The Surgical Technology program at Lincoln Land Community College prepares students for a rewarding career as a vital member of the surgical team. This comprehensive program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals in the operating room. Students learn the principles of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, anatomy and physiology, and surgical procedures across various specialties. The program typically lasts around two years, culminating in an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. A key component of the program is hands-on clinical experience, where students gain real-world experience in affiliated hospitals and surgical centers. Through clinical rotations, students learn to apply their knowledge under the supervision of experienced professionals. Graduates are prepared to sit for the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam and pursue entry-level positions as Surgical Technologists in hospitals, surgical centers, and other healthcare settings. The curriculum focuses on ensuring patient safety and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures. Graduates play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and successful surgeries.
