Central New Mexico Community College’s Surgical Technology program provides students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel as vital members of a surgical team. Offering both an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Certificate of Achievement, the program caters to diverse career goals within the surgical field. Students gain hands-on experience through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory simulations, and clinical rotations at local healthcare facilities. The curriculum is designed to ensure graduates are competent in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains, preparing them for successful careers as Surgical Technologists or Sterile Processing Technicians. Graduates of the Surgical Technology program are eligible to sit for the national certification exam, earning the coveted CST credentials. Those completing the Sterile Processing Technician program are prepared for the CBSPD exam.
