Edgecombe Community College’s Surgical Technology program is dedicated to cultivating skilled and compassionate surgical technologists ready to contribute to their communities. This comprehensive program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to excel in the operating room and beyond. Students learn to prepare surgical environments, assist surgeons during procedures, and maintain aseptic conditions, all while prioritizing patient safety and well-being. With a focus on both theoretical understanding and practical application, the program prepares graduates to take the national certification exam and pursue diverse career paths in hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare settings. The program’s mission is to graduate technologists who possess up-to-date knowledge, a high level of clinical competency, and a caring attitude. Students are encouraged to actively engage with the Surgical Technologist Association and get extra credit by attending the chapter’s monthly meetings.
