The Surgical Tech program at Stautzenberger College-Maumee is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as valuable members of a surgical team. This program provides a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and significant clinical rotations in real-world surgical settings. Students learn essential aspects of surgical technology, including aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, patient preparation, and assisting surgeons during a variety of procedures. They will also gain a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology. The duration of the Surgical Tech program is typically shorter than traditional degree pathways, allowing for a quicker entry into the workforce. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared to pursue entry-level positions as Surgical Technologists in hospitals, surgical centers, and other healthcare facilities. The program also prepares students to sit for the CST certification examination, which is often a requirement for employment.
