74030 Surgical Tech Program
The Surgical Technology program at Central Technology Center is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become vital members of the surgical team. Typically a 1-2 year program culminating in a certificate or Associate’s Degree, the curriculum focuses on providing students with a solid foundation in surgical principles, including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, surgical instrumentation, and sterile technique. Students will learn how to prepare the operating room, sterilize equipment, and assist surgeons during procedures. A key component of the program involves extensive clinical rotations at local hospitals and surgical centers, offering students real-world experience and the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting. Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam and pursue rewarding careers as surgical technologists in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician offices. The program emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and professionalism to ensure graduates are well-prepared for the demands of the surgical environment.
