Riverside College of Health Careers offers a comprehensive Surgical Technology program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as operating room specialists. This Associate of Applied Science degree program combines rigorous theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on laboratory simulations and clinical experience in a modern medical center and affiliated sites. Students learn essential skills such as asepsis, sterile technique, instrumentation care, and surgical case management. The curriculum covers microbiology, anatomy and physiology, surgical pharmacology, and various surgical procedures, culminating in a requirement to scrub for 150 surgeries to graduate. Riverside provides financial aid for eligible students and offers career planning services to help graduates secure employment in hospitals, surgical centers, or related healthcare settings. With a low instructor-to-student ratio and accreditation from CAAHEP, Riverside ensures a high-quality educational experience and prepares students to successfully pass the National Certifying Examination for Surgical Technologists, covered by tuition, paving the way for a rewarding career.
