Southern Union State Community College’s Surgical Technology program is a comprehensive pathway to a rewarding career in the operating room. This program equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel as vital members of the surgical team. Students will learn to maintain a sterile environment, expertly handle surgical instruments, and assist surgeons during complex procedures. The curriculum blends classroom instruction with extensive hands-on clinical experience, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of this fast-paced and critical role. With a strong emphasis on patient safety, aseptic technique, and a wide range of surgical specialties, students gain practical experience in the operating room. A minimum of 120 clinical cases are required, and the program prepares students to take the National Certification Exam. Accredited by CAAHEP, this program offers a rigorous and reputable educational experience, ensuring graduates are highly sought after in the healthcare industry. Starting Summer 2024, students can enroll in this AAS program.
