Surgical Tech Program
The Surgical Technology program at North Shore Community College (NSCC) prepares students for a rewarding career as a vital member of the surgical team. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction, hands-on lab simulations, and extensive clinical rotations to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the operating room. Students learn about surgical procedures, instrumentation, sterilization techniques, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology. The curriculum is designed to meet the standards set by the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA), making graduates eligible to take the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam. Clinical rotations provide invaluable experience at affiliated hospitals and surgical centers in the North Shore area. Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to work as entry-level Surgical Technologists in hospitals, surgical centers, and other healthcare facilities, assisting surgeons and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. The program’s duration is typically around two years, culminating in an Associate’s Degree.
