The Surgical Technology program at Mt. Hood Community College is designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as vital members of the surgical team. This comprehensive program typically takes approximately two years to complete and equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist surgeons during surgical procedures. Students will learn about surgical instrumentation, sterilization techniques, aseptic protocols, anatomy and physiology, and surgical procedures across various specialties. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to hands-on clinical experience in real operating room settings, allowing students to apply their classroom learning and develop practical skills under the supervision of experienced professionals. Mt. Hood Community College’s program aims to develop competent, ethical, and patient-focused surgical technologists who are prepared to make a positive impact in the healthcare field. Graduates will be prepared to seek employment in hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities. This program prepares students to sit for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam.
